This test is in search of the presence of an allergy-related antibody to specific foods. Specific IgE (immunoglobulin E) antibodies precipitate allergy symptoms to certain foods. IgE antibodies are normally found in small amounts in the blood and higher amounts can be a sign of allergy. This test does not require fasting.
