Temazepam is a benzodiazepine (ben-zoe-dye-AZE-eh-peen). It affects chemicals in the brain that may be unbalanced in people with sleep disorders. This medication is used to treat a insomnia. It may help you fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer, and lessen how often you wake during the night.
