Oxazepam is a benzodiazepine (ben-zoe-dye-AZE-eh-peen) that is used to treat anxiety disorders. Oxazepam may also be used short-term to treat symptoms of insomnia and alcohol withdrawal syndrome. This drug is short to medium acting that treats chemicals in the brain that may become unbalanced and cause anxiety.
