LDL-Cholesterol

LDL-Cholesterol

This test measures cholesterol levels to show the health of your cardiovascular system and to reveal potential risks to the heart prior to symptoms.

LDL, “bad cholesterol”, can increase your chances of heart disease, and HDL, “good cholesterol”, can help reduce LDL build-up. Triglycerides (stored calories for energy between meals) and VLDL cholesterol, a low-density lipoprotein made by your liver, release fats from fatty foods into your bloodstream and tissues. These both contribute to buildup of plaque in your arteries and create heart complications.

This test computes the levels of LDL and HDL cholesterol and Triglycerides in your bloodstream to show potential manifestation of heart disease.
